Some benefits of THC are:

  1. Pain Relief: THC is commonly sought after for its ability to alleviate chronic pain. Research has shown that cannabis products containing THC can effectively relieve pain, particularly neuropathic pain.
  2. Nausea Reduction: THC has been used to reduce nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy. Two oral THC-containing drugs, nabilone and dronabinol, have been available for this purpose for over 30 years.
  3. Muscle Spasm Reduction: THC may help reduce muscle spasms, especially in paraplegics and individuals with certain medical conditions.
  4. Improved Sleep: Some people find THC-rich products, when taken at the right dosage, to be effective in improving sleep quality.

Using THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive compound found in cannabis, can have both benefits and risks. Let’s explore some of the potential risks associated with THC use:

Tetrahydrocannabinol – The main compound and umbrella term in cannabis plants that can affect memory, thinking, pleasure, movements, concentration, coordination, sensory and time perception. Stimulates dopamine receptors and interferes with the hippocampus, which is responsible for how we form new memories. The most common natural-occurring compounds are D9-THC, D8-THC, CBN, CBD, CBC, and THC-V.

CBC – Cannabichromene is a non-psychoactive compound that has been shown to encourage brain cell regeneration and may help with digestion.

CBD – Cannabidinol is a non-psychoactive compound that is used for anxiety, inflammation, migraine, epilepsy, and depression.

CBN – Cannabinol is a non-psychoactive compound that is best used for inducing sleep and reduced anxiety.

Delta 8 – An isomer of THC that has a lower affinity for CB receptors, making it less potent than D9 THC. For those that are too anxious or paranoid for stronger cannabinoids but want indica effects.

CBG – Cannabigerol, one of more than 120 identified cannabinoid compounds found in the plant genus Cannabis. Cannabigerol is the decarboxylated form of cannabigeroolic acid, the parent molecule from which other cannabinoids are synthesized. Cannabigerol is normally a minor constituent of cannabis.
EFFECTS: Cannabigerol may affect certain chemicals in the body to lower cholesterol, protect the brain and nerves, and reduce swelling. There is interest in using Cannabigerol for abnormal levels of cholesterol or blood fats, Huntingdon disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and to stimulate appetite.

H4CBD – 4-Hydroxycannabidiol is a cannabinoid that was first synthesized by Alexander R. Todd derived from the catalytic hydrogenation of cannabidiol. H2-CBD and 8,9-dihydrocannabidiol have also been referred to as “hydrogenated CBD”, which may cause confusion.
EFFECTS: Preliminary research indicates that H4CBD may have anxiolytic effects, offering a potential solution for individuals struggling with with anxiety disorders or stress-related conditions. By interacting with the endocannabinoid system, H4CBD may help regulate mood and promote relaxation. Unlike conventional CBD, H4CBD can be mildly psychoactive.

HHC – Hexahydrocannabinol,

Delta 9 – The most abundant form of THC and is responsible for the intoxicating effects of cannabis. This is available for Medical patients only within the state of Florida.

Delta 10 – Significantly less potent than Delta 8 and 9 because of a lower concentration. Sativa effects are more tolerable for those too anxious or paranoid for Delta 9.

THC-0 – A synthetic, potent cannabinoid structurally similar to Delta 9 THC, but with more potent hallucinogenic effects.
NOTE: THC-0 is illegal to sell within the state of Florida. Also illegal under the Federal 2018 Agriculture Improvement Act.

THC-A – The acidic form of THC, when heat is applied, it breaks down into THC.

THC-B – A naturally occurring active cannabinoid that is suggested to be 10x the potency of Delta 9 THC.

THC-P – A naturally occurring cannabinoid suggested to be the most potent cannabinoid at 60x the potency of Delta 9 THC.

THC-V – A synthetic cannabinoid that has the minimum number of carbon atoms for the body to feel effects. Suggested to be 25% less potent than Delta 9 THC with a more sativa feel.
